Live events where we can see, touch, hear, taste, and smell the wonders of life are finally coming back. Here in Puglia, hopes are high for the beautiful wave of tourists that visit the peninsula every year, with a host of locations that are eager to welcome you back or inaugurate your first visit, across the region and at the most beautiful venues. We begin with a new retreat, designed by May Koh, founder of Cara Mia May.
May Koh is a 200Hr certified Awakening yoga teacher also trained in classical ballet and has performed cultural dances in the World Dance Festivals in Costa Rica and Germany. She is the creator of Cara Mia May, a vintage-inspired pajama brand that empowers local Apulian artisans, and is the host of a special holiday program coming to Masseria Potenti.
After two years of living between lockdowns with travel plans remaining mere wish lists, something about the word ‘retreat’ does not accurately express a traveler’s choice to board a plane and journey inward, into themselves. After all, we’ve had plenty of time to do that – or not? Perhaps it’s more about coming back to life, rather than withdrawing from it. Still, there’s no doubt that millions of professionals have found themselves working harder than before, and who knows how many entrepreneurs gave birth to new start-ups in the last two years alone. It’s always good to stop and celebrate your achievements, and if Puglia has been on your wish list for a while now, this might be a great time to give something back to yourself and take a fresh step forward.

Puglia Always Begins with a Love Story…
May’s lifestyle and wellness start-up came to life with her arrival in Puglia. Recalling the story of her brand, May remembers the profound emotion that first filled her at the sight of crisp, vintage pajamas placed on her bed when visiting the family farmhouse of Masseria Potenti; the crafty details and quality textile amazed her. The garments patiently waited for her until one day, she finally answered the calling. Soon enough, she launched her first collection of unique and timeless pieces from the 70s. Each set is made in true Italian craftsmanship, with exquisite embroidery and luxe fabric that takes pride in the traditions of the region’s artisans, already at risk of disappearing due to competitive pressures of mass production. Since the boundaries between the boudoir and the office have become almost non-existent, we agree with May that each garment can be worn all day, whether lounging around with a book or heading out to a casual cocktail party. Spoiler: it’s in those pajamas that you’ll be dancing on the last night of the retreat.
And Now, to the Program…
In the charming setting of the 16th century Masseria Potenti, guests will have the opportunity to immerse in the Mediterranean sunshine and countryside lifestyle with more than 125 hectares of olive groves and vineyards, lush gardens, and fresh produce, and daily yoga practices to rejuvenate your body and strengthen your mind. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and wines are provided and carefully selected throughout the duration of the holiday, and, in between sunset drinks, dips in the pool, and detox in the sauna, the family will take you on a special outing to explore Puglia’s landscapes.
