The first impression of this masseria is ‘wow’ and with reason; the sheer size of this property is incredible and then you see the interior architecture and you just need a moment (or two) to sit down and consider buying a place like this of your own.

A closer look reveals just how much love and care go into maintaining this historic residence and holiday home. As it happens, Masseria Lamacoppa has played host to many prominent individuals whose names remain withheld but all share mutual appreciation and unforgettable moments in this estate.

The Masseria

Located just ten minutes from the center of the celebrated ‘White City’ of Ostuni, Masseria Lamacoppa is built on a 73-acre private estate with six bedroom suites that can accommodate 12 guests with the utmost luxury and comfort. The property is ideal for people who are looking to retreat, and know-how to holiday at a slower pace, and is also a picture-perfect canvas for private events such as engagement parties, retreats, and weddings.

Around the property

Starting from the outside, the property is accessed via a private road and is surrounded by protected woods, ancient olive groves, and an organic fruit grove and vegetable garden. An inner path accessible by foot, bike, or buggy leads to the outdoor heated pool and jet-powered jacuzzi. The sheer size of the pool and irresistibly cool water are enough to run and dive in – it’s like having your own private lake in the middle of a natural garden. In the late afternoon, you can go for a run or head to the fitness room and hammam conveniently located at the poolhouse. Poolside service and meals can be enjoyed all day thanks to ensuite kitchen facilities, a traditional pizza oven, and al fresco dining.

Interiors

Inside, the masseria has been tastefully restored – what once was a working 18th-century farmhouse is now a magical place to retreat, host, and holiday with friends and family – for special occasions, any occasion, or just because. The original architecture is well preserved, evident in the arched ceilings and stairwells that remain untouched, all counterbalanced with eclectic furniture and unique artwork that reflect the owners’ avantgarde meets classic spirit. One room seems taken from a lounge in Marrakesh while another is inspired by a classic library room, complete with fireplace and books stacked from floor to ceiling. As one would expect from such a historic residence, the kitchen is the heart center of the home where traditional delicacies and international recipes are prepared fresh daily using the produce cultivated on the estate. The in-house chef never ceases to surprise with mouthwatering compositions and outstanding service standards; the humble team is comprised of one chef and one waiter, both of Moroccan origin, with the capacity to serve local dishes authentic down to the last herb as effortlessly as a decadent Middle Eastern tagine or cheese souffle quiche a la Francaise. Meals can be served by the pool, in the dining room that extends from the kitchen, or the adjacent outdoor patio.

Upstairs, the bedroom suites are divided to give guests privacy while easily accessible to one another via interconnecting reading rooms and shared halls; it is a free-flowing movement that is architecturally harmonious yet also engaging and familial where dreaming is a collective experience. The four-poster beds are raised high and dressed in the highest quality cotton sheets and duvets. The intimate ensuite bathrooms vary from bright and airy with bold artwork to cozy nooks with relaxation chairs and modern amenities including walk-in showers.

Location

A week goes by so fast in this kind of estate, but a journey to explore the nearby surroundings should not be missed. The city of Ostuni is minutes away with plenty of culinary and cocktail options, while the seaside and lovely beach clubs are a 25-minute drive to the coast.
