Who would have thought that from this intimate hotel in Gallipoli, one could explore the world? While the open sea outside is a great starting point, at this ‘Globetrotter’s House’ you’re transported in minutes – from Japan to Morocco to Peru. We love being in the heart of Gallipoli in such style, elegance, and jet setting chic. This boutique hotel is a rare gem in Puglia.
The Palazzo
From the outside, the historic building blends in seamlessly with its neighbors. While set in the heart of Gallipoli’s historic quarters, you’ll have to really look to find the golden plaque, delicately inscribed with the name, Palazzo Presta. Five floors are infused with inspiration, a charming aesthetic, and anecdotes of a globetrotter’s journey. Floors feature geometric tiles, the walls are adorned in eclectic photography and souvenirs from exotic islands, and accents include plush carpets, sofas, gold-brushed Moroccan cisterns, colorful textile, and vintage suitcases.
Around the Palazzo
The ground floor houses the ‘Libreria del Mare’ with a collection of books by local authors and intriguing memorabilia while up on the first floor is the reception area and several suites that have private terraces and sunloungers; two additional floors feature themed suites that vary in size and style. We could only imagine what a buy-out among a close group of friends would be like! On the rooftop is the Hobo Club, perfect for bookrooms, sunbathing, Yogis looking for a stretch, afternoon cocktails, and an Apulian-style lunch. The different areas allow for a combination of quiet repose and mingling with travelers.
Interiors
Each of the 10 rooms bears the name of a city that the husband-wife team, Antonio and Eugenia, sought to capture in style and soul. ‘Discrete elegance’ best embodies the concept with a careful selection of tapestry, furniture, and accessories. Interiors are eclectic and fun but at the same time warm and peaceful. Most rooms have a balcony and two have a private sun terrace. The vibe is sophisticated yet laidback, think SoHo house of Salento. The rooftop is an oasis of effortless chic with cushioned sun loungers overlooking the terraces of Gallipoli and the Ionian Sea; thanks to various setups, guests can enjoy a sense of space and privacy. Breakfast is served here daily (or in bed) and the cocktail bar proves that travel knowledge is not only instilled through the eyes but through the palate too. For those who want ‘the whole world as their homeland, this is the place.
