Palazzo Bozzi Corso, Lecce

This historical palazzo in the heart of Lecce is ideal for a romantic weekend in the city, offering utter relaxation, style, and good food. Moments away you’ll find the glitter and lights of the Baroque city’s holiday atmosphere. Stroll or cycle to visit the Basilica of Santa Croce, Piazza Sant’Oronzo with ruins of an ancient Roman amphitheater, and Piazza Duomo with its climbable bell tower from which you can enjoy views as far as the sea.

The walls of the palace are home to private artworks that recall the story of the Fiermontina family; each Suite tells a story, starting with Jacques Zwobada (1900-1967) and René Letourneur (1898-1990), two of the most interesting artists in the panorama of European sculpture in the first half of the 20th century, whose works can be admired in the house.

Palazzo Bozzi Corso is offering Gourmet Experiences and Romantic Weekend packages from now until the 6th of January 2023. Enjoy Salentinean hospitality rich in art, wellness, gourmet experiences, dessert cooking classes, and whisky tasting by the fire.

The whiskey tasting features labels across the globe, to be enjoyed at “Bar Enzo” which overlooks the beautiful private garden, or in the splendid “Strawberry Fields” library with its frescoed floors on the first floor. At the property’s Wellness Area “Le Scuderie” you can bathe in the natural stone hydromassage pool and waterfall, which can be combined with an argan oil massage to relax the body and mind, relieve stress and fatigue and then enjoy herbal teas and fresh fruit at the Relaxarium.

Gourmet Experience Package (valid to 6/01/2023, Festive holidays 24-25-30-31/12 and 01/01 excluded): 2 nights, continental breakfast, 1 gourmet experience (excluding drinks), access to the relaxarium for 60 minutes upon reservation, complimentary parking, bicycle for our guests

October 18, 2019

The sight of green scenery induces a sense of relaxation in our brains; the awe of its abundance allows us to slow down, watch and breathe without feeling compelled to do anything else. Let’s go forest bathing… The Japanese have understood this ages ago, and perhaps even a few odd world citizens who were blessed …

We came across this wonderful painting by Dire Str We came across this wonderful painting by Dire Straits' bass guitarist, John Illsley, titled Puglia II (2017). It's from a three series painting created during his time in Puglia, and perfectly depicts the landscape when flying above the land.

Basket weavers, textile producers, and master tail Basket weavers, textile producers, and master tailors have worked in Puglia for centuries, if not more. Tireless workers, young trainees and women alike took to the looms, weaved under the trees in a shaded yard, or in the kitchen between meal preparations to create fishing nets, baskets, detailed embroidery, and linens for the home.

Over time, Puglia became a hub for tailoring factories and while many of these have disappeared in the face of economic strife and competitive production costs the region’s craft making traditions are making a major comeback thanks to young entrepreneurial artisans and cooperatives that are empowering locals to uphold the ancient trade of ‘handmade in Puglia', sharing yet another facet of fine Italian craftsmanship with the world.

Today, we’re sharing the story of a lesser known Today, we’re sharing the story of a lesser known town just minutes from the Baroque capital: Welcome to Monteroni di Lecce.

It is believed that the name Monteroni comes from the Latin Mons Tyronum (Mount of the Spear-Men), the possible location of a Roman training camp. Archaeological findings suggest that Monteroni was also the location of a military stronghold, with coins of the Roman era found here.

Frederick II granted fiefdom to the Montoroni family somewhere between the 14th and 15th centuries, there they built the first Baronial Palace in the shape of a small fortress - one of the biggest in the province of Lecce.

You can visit it today, along with additional sites including the bell tower and two chapels, designed in the Leccese Baroque style. The town’s prestigious status is evident in the majestic villas peppered along the roads and recognized by the Italian Botanical Heritage association.

You can also visit: Villa Carelli Palombi, Casina Andretta, Villa de Giorgi, and Villa Grassi.

La Cialledda, also known locally as ‘Acquasale’, is a very traditional dish in Puglia and Basilicata that uses ‘yesterday’s bread’ or crumbled friselle, softened by the juices of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, sprinkled with olive oil and topped with red onions and fresh basil.

It’s fresh, crunchy and delicious in its simplicity.

Reminds us of the Lebanese ‘Fattoush’, doesn’t it?
